Fixed Ladder Parts, Explained

Fixed Ladder Parts

Every component a fixed ladder is built from, what it does, and the real numbers behind each part.

What are the parts of a fixed ladder?

The fixed ladder parts on every build are the side rails (stiles), the rungs, and the standoff mounting brackets. Fall protection adds a safety cage, well enclosure, or ladder safety device. Optional parts include walk-thru platforms, swing gates and rest platforms — each quoted as its own line item.

What are the side rails of a fixed ladder?

Side rails — also called stiles — are the two vertical members that carry the rungs. On our standard build they are formed steel in Q235B, SS304 or SS316, spaced to a 500 mm clear width. The stile section is chosen by height and load so the assembly stays stiff over its full run.

What are fixed ladder rungs?

Rungs are the climbing steps — Φ20 mm (0.79″) on our standard build, spaced 280 mm (11″) center-to-center, and rated 1.5 kN each. They are welded to the stiles with anti-slip finish on steel, or knurled/machined on stainless and aluminum.

What are standoff brackets?

Standoff brackets are the steel mounts that hold the ladder away from the wall at the designed climbing clearance. Standard is an 8 mm plate bracket, bolted or welded to the structure at 1.5–2 m spacing. They are the part that makes a fixed ladder non-self-supporting — the wall carries the load through them.

What is a fixed ladder safety cage made of?

A safety cage is built from Φ700 mm hoops and vertical straps, welded to the stiles. It starts at 2.2 m (7–8 ft) above the base and extends 42 in above the top landing. Hoop pitch, diameter and the base bell are set to the applicable standard and included in the structural calcs.

What fixed ladder parts can I add?

Common additions are a walk-thru platform and swing gate at the top, rest platforms every 50 ft on tall runs, a well enclosure, and a ladder safety device for PFAS-style fall protection. All are fabricated in the same factory and quoted on the same itemized basis as the ladder itself.

Can I order fixed ladder spare parts separately?

Yes. Rungs, standoff brackets, cage hoops, verticals and gates are available as spares to match existing Dengtai ladders. Send the drawing or model number and we quote replacement parts in 24 hours, shipped with the same MTC 3.1 material certificates.

Fixed Ladder Parts at a Glance

Six Parts, One Factory

The core components of every fixed ladder — fabricated, welded and finished in-house.

Side Rails

Formed steel stiles at 500 mm clear width — the spine of the ladder.

Rungs

Φ20 mm at 280 mm pitch, 1.5 kN rated, anti-slip finish.

Standoff Brackets

8 mm plate brackets at 1.5–2 m spacing — the permanent attachment.

Safety Cage

Φ700 mm hoops and verticals from 2.2 m — classic fall protection.

Walk-Thru Platform

Replaces top rungs for a safe step onto the landing.

Swing Gate

Self-closing gate at the top landing — a lockable access option.

Quick Answers

Common questions

What material are the parts made from?

Q235B carbon steel as standard, SS304/SS316 on request, hot-dip galvanized per ISO 1461 (local ≥85 µm, average ≥100 µm).

Can I match replacement parts to my existing ladder?

Yes — send rail spacing, hole pattern and photos; we match rungs, brackets and cage hoops to your installation.

Do replacement parts come with certificates?

Yes — MTC 3.1 material certificates and weld records ship with parts orders; a DoC is available on request.

What is the lead time for spare parts?

Replacement parts are produced in 5–10 working days and ship with the next container, or by air on request.

How are parts packaged for export?

VCI rust-protection film and ISPM 15 fumigated pallets, with a packing list for each line item.

Fixed Ladder Parts

Fixed Ladder Parts — Every Component, Every Spec

A fixed ladder is a small bill of materials — and each part has a real number. Know the parts and you can spec, quote, and inspect any ladder in minutes.

Fixed Ladder Parts — FAQ

What are the main fixed ladder parts?

Side rails, rungs, standoff brackets, cage hoops and vertical bars, rest platforms, swing gates, anchors — plus a PFAS rail where fall protection is required.

What size are fixed ladder rungs?

Φ20 mm (0.79″) round steel at 280 mm (11″) pitch, rated 1.5 kN each — above the OSHA 0.75″ minimum diameter.

What is the standoff bracket for?

It fixes the ladder 200 mm off the wall (8 mm plate), keeping at least 7″ of clearance behind the rungs for a secure foothold.

Can I order spare parts separately?

Yes — replacement rungs, hoops, brackets, and gates are quoted as line items with low MOQ, so you repair in place instead of replacing the whole ladder.

What makes up a safety cage?

40 × 5 mm hoops at Φ700 mm ID plus vertical bars on ~300 mm centers, starting 2.2 m above the base — all welded to ISO 5817 level C.
