Marine-Grade Build
Fixed Ship Ladder
Salt spray, rolling decks and tight companionways are the reality a fixed ship ladder lives in. SS316 marine-grade stainless is the default we build to — it shrugs off corrosion where galvanized steel would start to bleed within a season.
- SS316 marine-grade — the standard for ship ladders, jetties and offshore platforms.
- Ship ladders to any height — engineered for engine rooms, masts and cargo holds.
- Offshore & port ship ladders — companionways, jetties, and platform access runs.
- Electropolish option — a smoother, denser passivated surface that sheds salt and bio-film.
Marine Applications
Fixed Ship Ladder Options & Configurations
Offshore, port and vessel — the three marine settings where our fixed ship ladders are proven.

Vessel Engine Rooms
SS316 fixed ship ladders into holds and engine rooms, built to any height with cages or PFAS rails.

Offshore Platforms
Marine-grade SS316 ladders for platform legs, boat landings and helideck access — electropolished for salt resistance.

Ports & Jetties
Fixed ship ladders on jetties and quay bollards, HDG steel or SS316 to match the berth environment.
Marine Dimensions
Fixed Ship Ladder Specifications & Dimensions

Common questions
10–25 ft (3–7.6 m) standard, engineered up to 40 ft; Φ20 mm rungs at 280 mm spacing, 500 mm clear width, Φ700 mm cage and 1.5 kN per rung.
Extra fixing points, stiffened stringers and nylon-insert lock nuts on every connection, so rungs stay tight through rolling, pitching and machinery vibration.
15–25 business days after drawing approval; pre-assembled and trial-fitted before export packing, with a fixed weekly loading window.
Yes — compact custom geometry from 400 mm clear width with staggered rungs where headroom is restricted, all in marine-grade SS316.
Yes — free drawing review within 24 hours, factory-direct quotes with no middleman markup, and 500+ projects shipped to 50+ countries.
Scenario → Configuration Mapping
Ship & Marine Requirements → Recommended Ladder Builds
Marine ladders fail in three ways: salt corrosion, galvanic corrosion at the fixings, and rejected documentation. The build below addresses all three — the right grade, the right fasteners, and the right paper trail.
| Scenario Requirement | Recommended Configuration | Material / Finish |
|---|---|---|
| Marine salt spray — decks, engine rooms, open jetty positions | SS316/316L build with SS316 fixings throughout; electro-polished welds remove crevices where pitting starts | SS316 / SS316L marine grade |
| Extreme chloride exposure — ballast tanks, scrubber rooms, splash zones | Duplex 2205 build for the highest chloride resistance; fully welded construction with no drainage traps | Duplex 2205 |
| Class society survey — ABS, DNV, LR or CCS certification required | EN 10204 3.1 material certificates, WPS/PQR weld documentation, traceable heat numbers per batch | Any marine grade, documented |
| Vibration and vessel motion — rolling, pitching, machinery vibration | Extra fixing points, stiffened stringers, nylon-insert lock nuts on every connection | SS316 fasteners |
| Tight compartments — narrow trunking, pipe runs, machinery spaces | Compact custom geometry from 400 mm clear width; staggered rungs where headroom is restricted | SS316 |
SS316 & Duplex — Why Not SS304?
SS304 pitting starts quickly in salt spray. We build marine ladders in SS316/316L as the entry grade and move to Duplex 2205 for ballast tanks and splash zones — the same thinking used on port expansion access ladders supplied to a national port authority in SS316.
Class-Society Documentation
Surveys reject ladders on paper, not steel. Every marine order ships with EN 10204 3.1 material certificates, weld documentation (WPS/PQR) on request and a DoC — heat numbers traceable back to the mill batch.
Galvanic Corrosion Control
Mixed metals in salt air corrode fast at the contact point. We spec SS316 fasteners, isolation washers where dissimilar metals meet the hull, and closed drainage details on every weld — so the ladder outlives the survey cycle.
Fixed Ship Ladder Questions
SS316/316L as the marine entry grade for decks and engine rooms; Duplex 2205 for ballast tanks, scrubber rooms and splash zones where chloride levels are extreme. SS304 is not recommended for salt exposure.
Yes — EN 10204 3.1 material certificates with traceable heat numbers, a Declaration of Conformity and structural calcs ship with every order. WPS/PQR weld documentation is available on request.
We build to the documentation requirements of ABS, DNV, LR and CCS on request — material traceability, weld records and dimensional tolerances are controlled in production so survey submittals go through cleanly.
Yes — including SS316 access ladders for a national port expansion (18 units) and heavy-duty HDG Q345B ladders for an offshore platform project. References are available by industry, country and scale.
SS316 fasteners throughout, isolation washers where the ladder meets dissimilar hull steel, and welded brush-finished joints that leave no crevices for pitting to start.
